There is, in fact, another variation on Palm Rules Badminton: Triminton. There are three teams. If you insist upon a net, this will require a Y-shaped net -- technically not too difficult, but not likely to be found in the local park. If you are willing to play without a net, you can simply draw three lines arranged like a Y on the ground.
This variation has some interesting consequences. If team A hits the birdie to team B and team B wishes to hit it to team C, they will find it is surprisingly difficult to hit a birdie in a different direction than back the way it came.
Of course, it is a simple matter to extend this variation to four sides, requiring a cross-shaped net. This may be finagled by adding to a standard net, or even by simply drawing a line down the center of a standard court dividing each side into two halves.
